 | | <*dv_3*>My favorite pattern for this time of year is throwing a Carolina rig with a 3/4-oz. Sinker in a lot of open water. I'm looking for flats near deeper water where you've got spawning grounds in the 3- to 7-foot range. I like the Berkley Gulp! 7-inch Turtle Back Worm, or even better, the brand new Gulp! Lizard, which comes in eight different springtime colors. It seems the bass can't wait to get their mouths on these things. It's hard to tell if they're mad at it or just that hungry for it, it really doesn't matter. <*dv_2*>My second favorite pattern is using a Gulp! Sinking Minnow. I like to throw it on Vanish Fluorocarbon line because it won't float. Anytime you're fishing a weightless worm like the Sinking Minnow, you want to rig it either Texas style or "wacky" style. It will work well both ways. Texas when there's cover, and "wacky" when there's very little cover. Throw it out, drop your rod, and the weight of the bait will take it to the bottom. Any time you get a fish who is spawning, or wanting to spawn, and you're fishing the Gulp! Sinking Minnow the right way, you're going to catch it. | | |
